Every Lagos party has that one moment. The DJ drops the song, somebody shouts “Ehn ehn!”, the aunties who said they were “just passing” suddenly remove their shoes, and the guy who came with his laptop bag is now on the table. Ivorian rap king Didi B has clearly studied that moment carefully, because for his new link-up he called the one man who has been starting Naija parties since before some of us had Facebook accounts: Davido. The song is called — no long thing — “PARTY”.

“PARTY” arrived as a single on Thursday, 5 November 2026, one day before it took its seat as track 12 on Didi B’s brand-new 23-track album SHOGUN IN LAGOS, which landed on Friday, 6 November through REPAT AGENCY, distributed by Sony Music Entertainment France. The beat comes from Yung Alpha, the Nigerian producer behind Phyno and Wande Coal’s ‘Ndewo’, and the whole thing runs a tight 2:45. Abidjan brought the bars, Lagos brought the hook, and Yung Alpha brought the speakers. Chale, the invitation card is printed.

🎉 “PARTY” in 30 Seconds

A club-ready Afrobeats record with Afro-rap edges and a little amapiano seasoning. Davido carries the melodic hook that holds the chorus together, while Didi B comes in with sharp, rhythmic rap verses that give the song its bite. Short, loud in the right places and built for the moment the lights go low and the phones go up. Out now on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, Audiomack, Deezer and TIDAL.

Who Is Didi B?

Born Bassa Zéréhoué Diyilem in Abidjan in 1992, Didi B grew up inside the Ki-Yi village artistic community, between a pianist father and a choreographer mother — so performing was never a hobby, it was the family business. He came up with Kiff No Beat, the crew that became the first group signed to Universal Music Africa, then went solo and turned Mojotrône II: History (2022) into the album that made him the face of Ivorian rap.

His 2026 has been pure movement. Juventus Nueva Era (Deluxe) in February, a Zénith Paris date, and a collaboration list that looks like an ECOWAS summit: Young Jonn on “Raba”, Zlatan and Chley on “Je m’appelle”, Tayc on “JURU”, Pheelz and Rii on ‘ALL NIGHT LONG’, and Khaid on ‘MALADE’ just last week. SHOGUN IN LAGOS is where all that travelling finally gets an address.

And Davido? You Already Know

David Adeleke — OBO, 30BG, Davido Music Worldwide boss — has been the life of the African party for more than a decade, from “Dami Duro” and “Aye” to “Fall”, “If” and “FEM”. After Timeless (2023) and 5ive (2025), he dropped Oriadé this year, gave us ‘Amazing Grace’ with Black Sherif, booked a three-night Oriadé residency at the National Theatre in Lagos for 17–19 December, and even turned up in church on Kirk Franklin’s ‘Hope In You’. From pulpit to party in one week — only OBO fit do that and nobody go complain.

The Vibe: Yung Alpha Bounce, OBO Hook, Mojaveli Bars

Yung Alpha keeps the production lively without crowding anybody. The drums bounce like Afrobeats, the low end has that amapiano-adjacent warmth, and there is enough space in the arrangement for two very different voices to do their thing without stepping on each other’s toes. It is the kind of beat that sounds good on a phone speaker and dangerous on a club system.

Davido does what Davido does best: that familiar, slightly raspy, full-chest melody that turns a simple hook into a crowd chant. You don’t need to understand every word to know exactly when to shout. Then Didi B steps in with the rap edge — rhythmic, confident, switching gears with the swagger of a man who has headlined Abidjan’s biggest stages and now wants Lagos to learn his name properly. The contrast is the point: one man is singing you onto the dance floor, the other is rapping like he owns the venue. Reviewers this week called it an upbeat record built for clubs and celebrations, and honestly, the title already confessed.

And look at the cover before you press play: Didi B standing on top of a yellow Lagos danfo, Nigerian and Ivorian flags in the air, the National Stadium and a crowd that clearly did not come to sit down. If you have ever been stuck in Ojuelegba traffic, you know a danfo roof is the only VIP section in Lagos that doesn’t require a table booking.

Why “PARTY” Matters Right Now

For years, the language border between Francophone and Anglophone West Africa was the one wall our music struggled to climb. Didi B has been knocking it down one feature at a time, and SHOGUN IN LAGOS is his biggest swing yet: Davido, Phyno, Zlatan, Young Jonn, Qing Madi and Khaid from Nigeria, King Promise from Ghana on “HOLIDAY”, Focalistic from South Africa and NSG from the UK. Landing Davido — the most-requested feature on the continent — is the stamp on the passport.

Timing also matters. Didi B is billed for his first Lagos concert at the New Afrika Shrine on 8 November, the house of Fela’s legacy, and Detty December is warming up across Accra and Lagos. Same New Music Friday, Skepta and Asake gave us ‘Aloe Vera’, but if you need one record to announce that the festive season don land, “PARTY” is making a strong case. By the time Davido’s Oriadé nights roll around in December, don’t be surprised if the whole National Theatre is shouting this hook in Abidjan French and Lagos Pidgin at the same time.
