In French, “malade” means sick. In Abidjan street talk, it can also mean the kind of fine that makes a man forget his own house address. So when Didi B drops a song called “MALADE” and brings Lagos sweet-boy Khaid along, nobody is calling the doctor. Chale, this is the good kind of fever — the one you catch on a dance floor and refuse to treat.

“MALADE” by Didi B & Khaid landed on streaming platforms on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, with the official video going up on Didi B’s VEVO channel the same day. Production comes from Swankii, the video was directed and shot by Mahine Sef, and the record comes through REPAT Agency under licence to LA Jet Records, a division of Sony Music. Abidjan’s Mojaveli on one side, Ojo’s melody boy on the other. Francophone and Anglophone West Africa no dey fight this week; they are sharing one chorus.

⚡ “MALADE” in 30 Seconds

“MALADE” runs a quick 2:45 — the perfect length for a song that wants you to press repeat before you even finish deciding whether you like it. Stores file it under Afrobeats, Swankii is the credited producer, and the video tag line reads simply “Didi B feat. Khaid – MALADE (Clip Officiel)”. It arrived one day after Didi B’s coupé-décalé link-up “Souh” with Deejay Ayvess, which tells you everything about his 2026 work rate: the man releases songs the way Accra drivers use horns — constantly, and with total confidence.

Who Is Didi B?

Born Bassa Zéréhoué Diyilem on 3 April 1992 in the Ki-Yi village artistic community in Abidjan, Didi B grew up between a pianist father and a choreographer mother, so performing was basically the family business. He acted in films as a child, then in 2009 formed Kiff No Beat with his cousins — the crew that became the first group to sign with Universal Music Africa, in 2017. His solo story started with the 2013 mixtape Mojo Trône Vol. 1, and in 2022 Mojotrône II: History turned him from “the Kiff No Beat guy” into the face of Ivorian rap, sweeping the Prix du Hip-Hop Ivoire Trophy that year, Artist of the Year included.

Since then he has been moving like a man with a passport in one hand and a microphone in the other. Juventus Nueva Era arrived in February 2026, he booked the Zénith in Paris for 19 April, and his collaboration list this year reads like a West African conference: Fally Ipupa on “Cherie Coco”, Young Jonn on “Raba”, Zlatan and Chley on “Je m’appelle”, Tayc on “Salo” and “JURU”, and 6uff on “Gaou la”. He also slid onto Pheelz’s ‘ALL NIGHT LONG’ with Rii. Lagos is no longer a foreign country to him — it is a second office.

Meet Khaid: From Ojo Workshop to Neville Star

Khaid’s story is the kind Nollywood would reject for being too neat. Born Sulaimon Shekoni Solomon on 10 December 2004, he grew up in Shibiri-Ojo, Lagos, one of ten children, and worked as a roadside mechanic to support his family while chasing music. Then a freestyle he posted on Instagram caught the eye of skit maker and label boss Sydney Talker, who unveiled him in January 2022 as the first artist on Neville Records. From spanner to studio in a few weeks — e be like say God himself answer the DM.

The hits came quickly after that. “With You” made the Nigerian TurnTable chart, “Jolie” climbed to No. 7 in 2023, and “Anabella” from his Emotions EP went even higher, while “Carry Me Go” with Boy Spyce travelled to the UK and US charts. Apple Music named him an Up Next artist for Nigeria back in 2022. In 2026 he dropped the four-track B4R&W TAPE EP in June, then kept the guest features coming with R33NZO on “Sam Loco” and Kellylivinglarge on “Come Back Home”. Khaid’s superpower is simple: his voice sounds like a love letter written on a hot afternoon.

The Vibe: Silver Fever, Lagos Swagger

Look at the cover first. “MALADE” is written in jagged, glowing silver-white letters, like lightning that learned calligraphy, floating above two blurred figures moving through a dark, misty blue night. It feels like a memory from the end of a long party — you know you were there, but the details are delicious and fuzzy. Then the video switches the lights on: one man in white wraparound shades and an icy chain, the other in gold aviators and a cream-and-black jacket, both posing like they just bought the whole building. Mahine Sef directed, shot and colour-graded it, with VHS footage stitched into the mix, and the video’s own hashtag, #ShogunInLagos, tells you where the energy is pointing.

The pairing makes sense the moment you hear it. Didi B brings the French-language swagger, sliding through his lines with the confidence of a man who has headlined the Palais de la Culture, while Khaid floats in with that soft, airy Lagos melody that already made “Jolie” a hit. Swankii keeps things bouncy and uncluttered, giving both men space to flex. The result is a love-sick record that never sounds weak — more “I am finished because of you” than “please don’t leave me”. Very important distinction, especially in December.

Why “MALADE” Matters Right Now

For years, the language border between Francophone and Anglophone West Africa was the one thing our music could not fully jump. Didi B has been tearing that fence down one feature at a time, and France 24 noted this year that he was the first Ivorian Francophone artist to appear on the US Billboard Afrobeats chart. Every record like “MALADE” makes the Abidjan–Lagos highway shorter, and it means a fan in Kumasi, Cotonou or Ibadan can sing the same hook without needing Google Translate.

For Khaid, the timing is sweet too. After a year of building with the B4R&W TAPE and trading verses with Nigerian peers, a feature with one of Côte d’Ivoire’s biggest stars opens a whole new audience, from Abidjan maquis to Paris clubs. And with Detty December loading, a short, catchy, bilingual love song with a polished video is exactly the type of record that DJs in Osu, Lekki and Cocody will all be reaching for. Fever season don start.
