Some people meet their partner at church harvest. Some meet in the trotro queue at Circle. Carter Efe met his on a livestream, picked her up at the airport in Lagos, and now the two of them have put the whole love story on wax. The Machala man and American singer Taylor Jasmine, the Atlanta artiste many know as Cravetay, have released “Met You,” a soft R&B and Afropop duet that landed on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, with the official video dropping at the stroke of midnight in Lagos. Chale, the skit maker has entered his lover-boy era, and this time the punchline is a chorus.

The video’s description sets the tone in one line borrowed from the song itself: “I never knew a flight could change my life…” If you followed the timeline in late September, you already know the flight in question. Taylor touched down at Murtala Muhammed International Airport on 25 September, Carter was there to receive her, and from the dinner date to the viral one-knee clips, Nigeria watched the romance unfold in real time, ahead of Carter’s birthday on 29 September. Less than a month later, the soundtrack is out.

⚡ The Drop in 30 Seconds

“Met You” is a joint single from Taylor Jasmine and Carterefe on Eh God Records, produced by Faithkeyz and written by the two artists. It runs just under three minutes. Taylor carries the melody and the hook, Carter jumps in with a Pidgin and Yoruba verse, and the story moves “from Atlanta, Georgia, to Lagos, Nigeria,” in the words of the official video description. The visuals, directed by Kambi Pictures, went past half a million YouTube views in roughly a day, and by Wednesday morning the song had climbed to No. 71 on Apple Music’s Top Songs chart in Nigeria.

The Vibe: Two Worlds, One Chorus

Do not come here expecting “Machala” part two. There is no street-pop stampede, no shouting crowd. Faithkeyz keeps the production warm and unhurried, the kind of mid-tempo groove that lets an R&B voice breathe while a light Afropop bounce keeps your shoulders busy. Taylor opens the story like a diary entry about a trip that turned into something bigger, then builds to a simple, sticky hook about life being low “until I met you.” It is the kind of chorus you will hum in the kitchen without knowing you have started.

Then Carter arrives and the Lagos accent takes over. His verse switches the language into Pidgin and Yoruba, full of playful flattery and the swagger you would expect from a man who built his fame making people laugh. The contrast is the whole point. She brings the polish of an Atlanta singer who has been recording since her teens; he brings the cheeky street charm of a Delta boy raised in Ogun State. Put together, it sounds exactly like what it is: a long-distance romance that finally landed at the same airport.

The Cover: Red Curtain Romance

The artwork looks like a backstage photo from a very exclusive show. Taylor leans gently towards Carter in a purple patterned headscarf, while he stands tall in a camouflage cap and a fur-lined camo jacket, throwing up a cool hand sign for the camera. Behind them hangs a deep red velvet curtain, and the song title floats above them in golden script. Romance, but make it streetwear.

Who Are Taylor Jasmine & Carter Efe?

Carter Efe, born Oderhohwo Joseph Efe on 29 September 2001, grew up in Ogun State in a family from Ughelli North in Delta State. After losing his father in 2015 and finishing secondary school in 2019, he started posting comedy skits, with Sydney Talker as his inspiration. In 2022 he crossed into music with “Machala” featuring Berri-Tiga, the street anthem that turned his nickname into a chant. These days he is just as big on Twitch: after Davido joined one of his streams in December 2025, he became the most-followed Twitch streamer in Africa, and he was selected for Kai Cenat’s Streamer University Class of 2026. If you missed his loudest interview of the season, catch up on how he said Wizkid poured spit on his face and declared Davido his daddy forever.

Taylor Jasmine, born Taylor Jasmine Ahmed in Atlanta, Georgia, started out in a girl group, Wercharm, before going solo in 2014 under the name Cravetay. She began posting music videos on YouTube that same year, released her debut album IMF in 2015, and at 16 became one of the five young artists on Lifetime’s The Pop Game with Timbaland in 2017. Since then she has released the album Dear Me (2019), the COLORZ EP, Emotionally Fly (2020), OUTAGE (2024) and Catch Me While I Care (June 2025), while building a big following as a Twitch streamer.

Why “Met You” Matters Now

Streamer culture and Afrobeats have been flirting for a while, and “Met You” is the moment they walked down the aisle together, at least musically. The couple’s fans have spent weeks watching the airport hug, the cake, the dinner, and every twist of their livestream gist, so this song arrives with a ready-made audience on both sides of the Atlantic. For Carter, it is proof that he can do tender as well as turn-up. For Taylor, it is a fresh doorway into West Africa’s biggest market. And for the rest of us in Accra and Lagos, it is a reminder that sometimes the best love stories start with a phone call mid-flight.
