Some people mix drinks. Some people mix colours. Gonaboy mixed one whole lifestyle, poured it into three minutes and labelled it king size. The Techiman-raised rapper is back with MIX MIX (KINGSIZE), a brand-new single released on Friday, 16 October 2026, and four days later it is already sitting at No. 48 on Apple Music’s Top Songs chart in Ghana. For an artist who built his name from the streets up, chale, that is not small portion.
The rollout was a slow-cooked stew. On 9 October he wrote, “I’ve been carrying this one for a while. Time to let it go.” The next night he invited some of his favourite people to a private preview and thanked them for the love. Then came “Some sounds are confessions, and this is mine,” followed by the date reveal “FRIDAY 16/10/26.” At midnight it landed with the caption every hungry young man understands: “Gimme ma portion, mame King size.” Small size? Medium? Please, that is for other people.
⚡ The Drop in 30 Seconds
MIX MIX (KINGSIZE) is a one-track release, exactly three minutes long, carrying the Xecute Team / Gonaboy stamp. Apple Music files it under Alternative Rap, Audiomack under rap and afrobeats, and it wears the explicit tag, so maybe don’t play it loud when Grandma is doing her evening devotion. The official visualizer went up on Gonaboy’s own YouTube channel on release day and had pulled in more than 28,000 views by Tuesday morning.

Who Is Gonaboy?
Gonaboy is Abdul-Razak Muniru Gona, born on 10 June 1999. His roots go back to a small village in the Upper West Region, and life moved him through Kumasi, Berekum and Sunyani, with Techiman in the Bono East Region as the town that raised him. His official bio says music was never a calculated plan; it simply grew out of the pain, pressure and hustle he lived through. He mixes the grit of American hip-hop and African drill with local slang and rhythm, which is why his records sound like Accra nights and Techiman lorry stations at the same time.
Ghana first really caught him with “Abele” in 2023, a record his camp proudly calls a street anthem. Then came “Hustlers Mantra” and “Reggae” in 2024, before the October 2025 EP MUNIRU, an eight-track project named after himself and dedicated to the lessons of his father. He told 3Music the EP was “a mirror of my soul.” Its standout, “Same Timbs,” became his calling card, and he later performed it with “Breath” for a Glitch Sessions live set. This year he also appeared on LADIPOE’s album REVIVAL on “Road Rage / Old Ways” and dropped “Hollata Story” in July. Even Lagos radio is paying attention: Soundcity 98.5 was spinning “Same Timbs” just days before this release.
The Record: Night Life, No Brakes
According to the visualizer notes, MIX MIX is about the freedom, energy and unapologetic spirit of young people, inspired by spontaneous nights out. The clip leans into that with a Matrix-inspired green colour grade, turning club chaos into something surreal and digital. Sonically it is confident, bouncy and cheeky, with Gonaboy flexing big dreams, big cars and bigger appetites. One line he has been quoting all week stands out: “Meni Yesu nim Mohammed, no be you go show me God” — loosely, “me, Jesus and Mohammed… nobody go show me God.” Bold talk, but very Gonaboy. One fan on X summed the vibe up perfectly, calling it “Same Timbs ein twin bro.”
The Cover: Midnight Sparkle
The artwork matches the green night mood. Gonaboy crouches beside an old green 4x4 in a white bandana, white vest, silver chain, baggy white trousers and clean white sneakers, eyes down like a man planning his next move. Across the bottom, the title “MIXMIX” glows in smoky rainbow sparkles with a little star on top. It looks like a street photo that wandered into a fireworks display, and we are not complaining.
Why MIX MIX Matters Now
Ghana’s young rap class is busy this season, from Kumasi’s Asakaa crew to newer voices — earlier this month we covered Yaw Tog’s ‘AKATAPIANO’. Gonaboy’s lane is different: alternative, moody and personal, but still catchy enough for the club. After the strong run of MUNIRU and “Same Timbs,” MIX MIX shows he is not a one-song guy. With the December party season loading, a record about living free and taking your king-size portion could not have better timing. Abele boy has grown up, and he wants the full plate.
