Some praise songs make you kneel. Others make you check whether the church floor can take one more two-step. Ghanaian-American singer Afriyie and Accra urban-gospel favourite Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta have chosen the second option with “Amazing Love,” a joint single released on 9 October 2026. The cover is calm: soft coral flowers, blurred like a memory, on a misty sage background. The song itself is not calm at all. It is a highlife bounce about the love of God, and by the second bar your shoulders have already joined the choir.

The Groove: Highlife Goes to Church

The artists describe “Amazing Love” (also titled Anwanwa Do, the Twi way of saying the same thing) as an anthem about the love of God, built on Ghanaian highlife with smooth R&B touches and modern Afro-fusion polish. That mix is exactly what you hear. Producer Obeng King plays the bass and keys himself, while Emmanuel Tetteh’s electric guitar does that sweet palm-wine dance highlife lovers know from their uncles’ cassette days. Sammy Qube handles the mix, keeping it bright without losing the warmth. At 2 minutes 43 seconds, it is short enough for a Sunday morning car ride from Dansoman to East Legon and sweet enough that you will run it back before you park.

The two singers wrote it together, and you can feel the chemistry. Afriyie brings a soulful, almost R&B smoothness; Nana Yaw brings that easy, joyful urban-gospel energy that made a whole generation shout “you dey feel the vibe?” This is not the heavy, ten-minute worship type of song. It is thanksgiving with a smile on its face, the kind of record that can play at a church harvest, a wedding reception or a Friday office playlist without anybody complaining.

The official music video, shot by David DVNKS, landed on Afriyie’s YouTube channel on release day. DVNKS is no stranger to this circle: he and Nana Yaw already shared the mic on the 2025 single “Believe” with Kofi Karikari. Here he stays behind the camera and lets the joy do the talking.

Who Is Afriyie?

Not to be confused with reggae and highlife veteran Afriyie Wutah, this Afriyie is a Ghanaian-American artist whose music blends gospel, soul, Afrobeat and alternative sounds with a clear Christ-centred message. His catalogue goes back to “Woso” (2021) and includes “Oye Owura,” “I Do,” “Yɛ Da W’ase” with Obeng King, “Call on You,” the Afro-house leaning “Loving You” (2025), “Ese Wo” with Nicholas Annang Jr and “Oye” with Rex Boateng earlier this year. In August he also featured on SIKA KOKOO’s “Time Changes.” Small catalogue, steady hand, and with Obeng King back on the boards, the reunion sounds like it was planned in heaven’s WhatsApp group.

Who Is Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta?

Known to fans as Oneman1000, Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta leads The Oasis Collective, a faith-based creative community in Ghana focused on ministry, music and young people. He broke through as the voice of the viral “You Dey Feel The Vibe” with The Band FRA!, then kept the hits flowing with “Owawani,” “Sometin” (also produced by Obeng King), “Onyame Ben,” Joe Mettle’s “Afro Christmas,” the high-energy “Ghana Praise Party” and July’s “Yesu.” Speaking on 3Xtra Unwrapped in September, he admitted he only realised “You Dey Feel The Vibe” was big when his own father started singing along. Chale, when Daddy joins the chorus, the song has passed its final exam.

Why It Matters Now

Ghanaian gospel is having a fun moment, with young acts borrowing from highlife, amapiano and Afrobeats to reach people who might never open a hymn book. “Amazing Love” fits right into that movement while keeping its roots proudly local. For Afriyie, it is a chance to reach a bigger Ghana audience through one of urban gospel’s most loved voices. For Nana Yaw, it is one more proof that praise can groove. Add it to your weekend playlist before your auntie sends it to the family group chat.
