Labadi people say the sea breeze carries everything: gossip, fish smell, church announcements and, every now and then, a love song. This week the breeze brought one straight from home. Aklerh, the reggae and dancehall voice who wears La Beach on her sleeve, has put down the party whistle for a minute and picked up something softer. Her new single “Wo Dor”, a title that means “My Love”, is a lovers’ rock slow burn built for late evenings, slow wines and that one person whose name you save with three heart emojis.

The song dropped on Monday, 19 October 2026 through Revolution Records, with the official video landing on her YouTube channel the same morning. After two singles spent flirting with Afrobeat, “Wo Dor” is Aklerh walking back into the house where her music was born, kicking off her shoes and switching on the old sound system.

⚡ The Drop in 30 Seconds

“Wo Dor” runs 3:17 and is produced by Tubhani Music, the same hands behind her 2025 single “Amele”, so the partnership already knows its way around her voice. This time they swap the Afrobeat bounce for proper lovers’ rock: soft, melodic rhythms, mellow bass and warm harmonies wrapped around Aklerh’s honeyed vocals. In her own words, the song is “a return to what first inspired me”, and a demonstration that she can swing between genres and still sound like herself. The message is simple: appreciate the love people show you, and do not forget to love yourself too.

🎧 Watch & Listen: “Wo Dor”

The Vibe: Slow Wine, Soft Heart

Lovers’ rock is the genre that taught a whole generation how to dance close without stepping on toes. It is reggae with its Sunday clothes on: the drums relax, the bass hums instead of shouting, and the singer leans into your ear instead of the microphone. “Wo Dor” sits comfortably in that tradition. The groove takes its time, the harmonies cushion every line, and Aklerh sings like somebody who has nothing to prove and everything to feel. It is the kind of record that sounds like a late-night conversation with someone you care about: simple, honest and full of feeling.

What makes it land is the restraint. Aklerh can roar when she wants to. Anybody who has seen her command a dancehall crowd knows the lungs are there. Here she pulls back, lets the melody do the heavy lifting and trusts the listener to lean in. In a month where the speakers have been full of money flexes and street anthems, a song that simply says “my love” and means it feels like a cold glass of sobolo after a long trotro ride. Couples will play it for each other, singles will play it for themselves, and at least one uncle at the next family party will request it twice and pretend he is not crying.

The Cover: Hold Yourself First

The artwork matches the message perfectly. Aklerh stands in the centre with long blonde curls falling over her shoulders, eyes closed and arms crossed tightly over her chest in a warm self-embrace, pearl necklaces, chunky rings and a wristwatch catching the light. Behind her, a white domed gazebo sits at the top of a stone staircase, framed by pink blossom trees, while floating hearts and petals drift across a purple sunset sky. Her name glows in white at the top and “Wo Dor” curls across the bottom in glossy pink script. Before the song tells you to love somebody else, the cover reminds you to hug yourself first. Therapy and reggae in one picture.

Who Is Aklerh?

Aklerh, born Zebulun Aklerh Ocansey, is a Ghanaian reggae and dancehall artiste who proudly calls Labadi home, and the press has nicknamed her the Authentic Voice of Labadi. Before releasing her own catalogue, she spent time in Nigeria performing covers of Peter Tosh, Bob Marley and Morgan Heritage, until, as she put it, she “got tired of singing other people’s songs.” Her breakthrough came in 2021 with “Born Rich”, which was reworked after she linked up with Nathaniel Amatio of Revolution Records, the label that has backed her ever since.

From there the run has been steady. “Only You” arrived in early 2023, followed by “Labadi Gyal” featuring Jah Lead, a Cashtwo-produced dancehall tribute to the women of her hometown, then “Run D’town” and “Money”. In April 2024 she released the six-track Dancehall Queen EP and, that same year, hosted her own Queen of the Coast concert with acts like Ras Kuuku, Osagyefo and Jahwi on the bill. A Ghana Music Awards USA 2025 nomination for Emerging Artiste followed, along with a feature on Ennwai’s “Imagine”. In 2025 she stretched into Afrobeat with “Mash Up” and the Tubhani-produced “Amele”, before closing the year with “Rush”. “Wo Dor” is the homecoming chapter.

Why “Wo Dor” Matters Now

Ghana’s love-song season is quietly warming up. Akwaboah and Kwesi Arthur reminded everybody earlier this month that real-love records still connect, with “Odo Ankasa”. But most of the romance on the airwaves arrives dressed in highlife or Afrobeats. A proper lovers’ rock single from a Ghanaian woman is a rarer bird, and that alone gives “Wo Dor” its own lane on the playlist.

It also adds a fresh colour to the local reggae and dancehall picture. Stonebwoy has been flying the African dancehall flag with heavy cuts like “Silent Samurai”, and Sista Afia has been flexing boss energy on “Boss It”. Aklerh comes in from the opposite direction: no chest-beating, just tenderness. For an artiste who has spent two years proving she can rock any genre, choosing the gentlest one in reggae’s toolbox is a confident move. Sometimes the boldest thing a dancehall queen can do is whisper. Ghana should be listening.
