Some people say thank you with a WhatsApp voice note. Diana Hamilton says it with a five-minute testimony, a full music video and a choir of goosebumps. The 2021 Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year is back with W’ate M’anim (You Have Honoured Me), a brand-new single released on Friday, 16 October 2026, and it is the kind of song that makes even the uncle who only comes to church for harvest stand up and lift one hand. Small small, but he will lift it.

The build-up was very Diana. On Monday, 12 October, she told her followers on X: “WHEN GOD HONOURS YOU, YOUR TESTIMONY CANNOT BE SILENCED!” and asked them to pray with her ahead of Friday. By release day she was quoting Scripture — “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side…” from Psalm 124 — and praying that the song would become “the soundtrack to your testimonies.” Translation: this one is not for background music while you are frying plantain. Sit down and count your blessings.

⚡ The Drop in 30 Seconds

W’ate M’anim is Twi for “You Have Honoured Me,” and the whole record is built around that one big idea: look back at how far God has brought you, say thank you, then face tomorrow with faith. It runs exactly five minutes, it is written by Cofi Boham with Diana herself credited alongside him as composer, and it is produced by Oshogbo. The official audio landed on her YouTube channel late on Thursday night, the official video followed in the early hours of Friday, and the song is now live on Spotify, Apple Music, Audiomack, Deezer, TIDAL and the rest. Family-friendly, Sunday-ready, Monday-morning-commute approved.

A Testimony With Receipts

Diana describes the song as her testimony of God’s faithfulness — gratitude for the past and hope for the future — and the video is where she shows the receipts. Director McWillies, the same creative hand behind her award-winning “Adom” visuals, returns to stitch together glimpses of where she has come from with images of where she is going. It is part memory lane, part prophecy, and fully emotional. Do not watch it with mascara you love.

Even the cover art is preaching. Diana stands in a crisp white shirt and striped tie — very senior-prefect-on-Speech-Day — under a huge flowing pink cape, one hand resting on a tall pink pillar like she is holding up the whole building. Behind her, soft pink drapes. In front of her, the title in big elegant letters. The message is simple: the schoolgirl has grown into a pillar, and she knows exactly who to thank for it.

Who Is Diana Hamilton, Again?

If you have been to any Ghanaian wedding, thanksgiving or all-night service in the last six years, you already know. Born Diana Antwi into a Church of Pentecost family, with her early years spent in Kumasi, she started out as a teenage backing vocalist for gospel great Francis Agyei, then released her debut album Ɔsoro Bɛkasa in 2007. Ensi Wo Yie (2010) made her a household name in gospel circles, and she trained and practised as a nurse along the way — so yes, she can heal your spirit and check your blood pressure.

Then “Adom (Grace)” happened. That song travelled from church choirs to trotro speakers to diaspora living rooms, and in June 2021 it carried her to Artiste of the Year and Gospel Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards. That same era gave us the live favourite “Wani Ku Me Ho,” then came “Awurade Ye,” “My Meditations” and the cross-border blessing “The Doing of the Lord” with Nigeria’s Mercy Chinwo — a song that, funnily enough, was also built on Psalm 124. Last November she linked South Africa’s Ntokozo Mbambo and our own Elder Mireku on “Aha Ye (The Good Place),” and in 2026 she has already served “In His Presence” and “Nyame Banbofo (God the Protector).”

Why W’ate M’anim Matters Now

Gospel music is having a very busy October. Earlier this month we covered Alex Acheampong’s ‘Nyame Baako Pɛ’ with Obaapa Christy — the same Alex who linked Diana on “ABC” back in April — and over in Nigeria TY Bello just dropped 40 worship songs in one go. In that crowded church, Diana is not shouting to be heard. She is doing what she does best: a clean, heartfelt thanksgiving song that choirs can learn in one rehearsal and congregations can sing back by the second chorus.

The timing is sweet too. December is coming, and with it the end-of-year thanksgiving services, the crossover nights and the family gatherings where everybody suddenly remembers how good God has been. W’ate M’anim arrives just early enough to become that season’s testimony song. Mark our words: by 31 December, somebody’s auntie will be dancing to this in the aisle with a white handkerchief.
