Ding ding! Somebody ring the bell. T.I Blaze, the Agbado boy who turned one hook into a whole career, has stepped back into the ring with Round One (Elle Mummy), a brand-new solo single released on Friday, 16 October 2026. The title already reads like a fight card — and if this one is only round one, we are not sure the rest of the street-pop division has finished stretching.
He did not do long grammar before it landed, either. On 12 October he posted “New single on Friday” with a dancing-man emoji. On Friday he came back with four words and a link: “New music out now.” Na so the man dey talk. By Friday morning the record was sitting on New Music Friday lists beside Fireboy DML’s ZUKO!, Blaqbonez’s ‘NOMADINHO: 4TH PRIME’ and Pheelz’s ‘Cash Rules Everything Around Us’ — the kind of Friday where you need two phones and a power bank.
⚡ The Drop in 30 Seconds
Solo record, no features, two minutes twenty-six seconds — short, sharp and not explicit. Production is credited to Thebeatmurderer, T.I Blaze is the only writer on the credit sheet, and the release carries the Rhythm Vault stamp with distribution through Africori. Most platforms list it as Round One (Elle Mummy); on Apple Music it appears simply as “Elle Mummy.” Same song, same mummy, no wahala.

From a Hotel Kitchen to ‘Sometimes’
Born Akintunde Abiodun Timileyin — yes, the initials are where the “T.I” comes from — he grew up in Agbado, Ogun State, and started making music in JSS2 as a rapper before switching to singing in his final year of secondary school. His first release, “Asiko,” arrived in December 2019 and, by his own admission, did not shake anything. After leaving home in 2020, he has said he spent eight or nine months sleeping in a hotel kitchen, hitting the street by 4am and begging the gateman to let him back in at night.
Then came August 2021 and a song called “Sometimes.” It grew slowly, then suddenly. On New Year’s Eve, Olamide posted the artwork on his Instagram story; the next day T.I Blaze was at Baddo’s house recording a remix that dropped almost immediately. The Sometimes remix climbed to number three on Nigeria’s TurnTable chart, and the boy from the kitchen became one of the new faces of street-pop — the singer who brought feelings to a genre that usually shouts.
The Catalogue Don Heavy
No rest since then. The Fresh Prince of Lagos EP landed in February 2022, Apple Music named him its Up Next artist for Nigeria the following month, and “Kilo” with Skiibii kept the engine warm. His debut album El Major (November 2022) pulled in Bella Shmurda, Camidoh, Ladipoe and more, followed by Dangerous Wavy Baby (2023), Shakur (2024) and its 2025 deluxe, “Trenches Luv,” “My Brother 2.0” with Ayo Maff, “Lonely Road” with Llona and the El-Chapo EP. In 2026 he has already served “Chokehold” in August and jumped on D£JAVU’s “Akube” at the start of October. Round One is simply the next punch in the combination.
The Cover: Couch in the Clouds
The artwork is pure cartoon fantasy. An animated T.I Blaze lounges on a giant brown couch floating among the clouds — tongue out, chain on, cream jacket with “Blaze” across the chest, ripped dark jeans and chunky blue boots. In one hand he holds a glowing green flask like a mad scientist on leave, golden planets orbit around him, and big bubble letters spell out the title over his head. Whatever is inside that flask, chale, we are not drinking it. But the mood is loud and clear: relaxed, cheeky and very, very far from that hotel kitchen.
Why Round One Matters Now
Two things make this release worth watching. First, the paperwork: after years of releases carrying the Dvpper and Dapper Music lines, both of his 2026 lead releases — August’s Chokehold (credited alongside Rhythm Vault) and now Round One — carry the Rhythm Vault line. New label line, same voice; we no go carry story wey we no see, we go just watch. Second, the bigger picture: days before the drop, T.I Blaze told fans a project called BLUEPRINT is on the way, calling it “another zero skip project.” He has not shared a tracklist, but a song named Round One landing in the middle of that conversation is the kind of timing fans will read like tea leaves.
With the December season loading in Lagos and Accra, a short, clean street-pop single from one of the genre’s most emotional voices is right on time. Round one done. We dey wait for the bell.
