Every city get the people who wake up before the sun and still dey road after it sets. Port Harcourt get plenty of them, and Halver has decided to sing for all of them. The rising Rivers State act has called in the city’s favourite son, Duncan Mighty, for “Hustler”, a fresh Afro-Beat single released on 8 October 2026 through his own Guap Culture imprint. The cover tells the story before the first bar: five silhouettes walking into a big orange sunset, loads balanced on their heads, a yellow bus parked by the roadside and electric wires sagging over the street. Chale, if you have ever carried market on your head or carried your family on your back, this one already knows your name.

The Vibe: Sweat, Sunset and Survival

“Hustler” is not a champagne song. It is a song for the walk to the champagne. It is a reflective record built around ambition, perseverance and the fight to keep pushing when the account balance is saying something else. David Cloud handles production and composition, Cletus Oworo takes care of the mix and master, and both artists share lead vocals and songwriting credit. Under three minutes, no long speeches — just enough time to remind you why you set alarm for 4:30am. It is the kind of record that plays well in a keke at rush hour, in a barbershop on a slow afternoon, or in your earphones while you queue at the bank pretending you are not checking your balance again.

Halver: Port Harcourt Built

Behind the name is Ed Orima, an Afro-fusion singer from Port Harcourt who started out rapping before switching lanes into melody. He has been making music since 2019, with a growing run that includes “Confidence” and “Slice” (2022), “Sambisa” (2024), the street-joy anthem “Trabaye” (2025) and, this year, “Not for All (Alcohol)”, the two-track Silk & Scars with “Dembele” and “On God”, plus “Senorita”. In a NoteSphere interview he described Guap Culture as more than a label — a hustle mindset he summed up simply: “Guap Culture is all about progress.” He also calls himself the King of the South, which is bold talk. But when your co-sign is Duncan Mighty, the crown talk no be joke again.

Duncan Mighty: The City’s First Son

Duncan Mighty does not need a long introduction anywhere from Rumuokoro to Rumuola. This is the voice behind “Dance For Me”, “Ijeoma”, “Obianuju” and the early-2010s rallying cry “Hustler’s Anthem”, the man whose melodies helped StarBoy’s “Fake Love” with Wizkid take over parties. 2026 has kept him busy: he reunited with Timaya on “Kontrol”, linked with Stonebwoy on “Betta Tin”, and has been lending his voice to a steady line of guest features. Jumping on a young Port Harcourt artist’s single titled “Hustler” feels like a full-circle moment — the man who gave the city its hustlers’ anthem now passing the mic to the next generation of grinders.

Why It Matters Now

Lagos usually takes the headlines, but the South-South has always had its own sound, its own slang and its own heroes. Records like “Hustler” keep that pipeline alive by putting an established Port Harcourt legend beside a hungry new voice from the same streets. For Ghana, the theme lands easily too — from Makola to Kejetia, everybody understands the head-pan economy on that cover. And in a season where every other release is about cars, money and designer drip, a song that respects the grind itself is a welcome change. Halver gets his biggest co-sign yet; Duncan gets another reminder that the city still answers when he calls. Na hustle we dey, and now the hustle get theme song.
