Some artists announce a project six months early, post a countdown, do three listening parties and still drop on a Tuesday nobody remembers. Then there is Shallipopi. The Pluto Presido simply woke up on Friday, opened the door of his rocket ship, and threw a whole new EP at us before breakfast. No long rollout, no begging for pre-saves, no wahala. Just three songs, three videos, and one very loud instruction: up, up and away.

The project is “WayWard”, a tight three-track EP from Benin City’s favourite street-pop president, released on Friday, 23 October 2026 through Since 93, the Sony Music UK imprint he has been working with since his Gunna link-up. It runs about nine minutes in total, carries zero guest features, and comes with visuals for every track. The focus record is “UP (Transovania)”, produced by his long-time sound partner Producer X with Tudor Munroe, and its official video has already pulled more than 220,000 YouTube views in its first two days. For a surprise drop on a random Friday, that one na serious lift-off.

⚡ The Drop in 30 Seconds

“WayWard” is Shallipopi in his purest form: three short, chant-heavy street-pop records built on log drums, bounce and slang that only Plutomania citizens fully understand. The opener “.com” turns web addresses into street flex, “UP (Transovania)” launches the space-travel party, and Cooq-produced closer “OGO” takes a victory lap. It is his first new body of work since the December 2025 album Auracle, and it is streaming now on Spotify, Apple Music, Audiomack, Deezer and YouTube Music.

🎬 Watch: “UP (Transovania)” (Official Video)

The Vibe: Plutomania Airways, Now Boarding

Every Shallipopi record comes with its own vocabulary, and “UP (Transovania)” hands out a new passport. Transovania is not on any map you learnt in JHS geography. It is a made-up destination somewhere between Benin City and outer space, and the only way to get there is by Plutomania rocket ship. The hook is as simple as a nursery rhyme and twice as sticky: “Up up and away”, repeated until your whole trotro is chanting it with you. Producer X and Tudor Munroe keep the beat lean and bouncy, so Shallipopi’s lazy, unbothered flow can float on top like a man who has already paid for first class.

The verse is where the comedy lives. “Everyday na bank holiday,” he announces, which is a lifestyle every Accra worker stuck in Monday traffic would like to apply for. Later he reminds us that “Skyiami nor be Miami”, a line that makes no sense and perfect sense at the same time, which is basically the Shallipopi business model. There are dance-floor instructions, money talk and enough “sick sick sick” ad-libs to fill a clinic waiting room. It is short, silly and built for replay, and that is exactly the point.

Around it, the rest of the EP plays its part well. “.com” opens the tape with Producer X on the boards again, turning phrases like “Bentley.com” and “Plutoway.com” into street-level status symbols, with a flute line slipping through the log drums for extra flavour. “OGO”, produced by Cooq, closes with a confident victory chant, its title borrowing the Yoruba word for glory. Three tracks, three moods, no skips, and you are done before your jollof finishes cooling.

The Video and The Cover: Garage Glory in Black and White

The “UP (Transovania)” video goes full monochrome. Shot with a fish-eye lens in a white garage, it finds Shallipopi in a black tee and stacked chains, grinning into the camera while luxury cars sit behind him with their bonnets popped open, as if the engines are being prepped for the trip to Transovania. Visuals for “.com” and “OGO” dropped the same day on his VEVO channel, so the full EP experience is a proper watch party.

The cover art matches the black-and-white mood. Against a clean white background, Shallipopi stares out from behind steepled hands, his long locs spilling over his forehead, his eyes just visible in shadow. Between his fingers he holds a heavy iced-out pendant on a chunky chain, with a diamond bracelet on one wrist and a big silver watch on the other. No title text, no gimmicks, only a parental advisory sticker in the corner. It looks like the opening shot of a gangster movie where the main character is about to explain how he became the president of a planet.

Who Is Shallipopi?

Shallipopi, born Crown Uzama on 12 April 2000 in Benin City, Edo State, is one of the most distinctive hitmakers of this Naija generation. Before the fame, he worked as a bricklayer, painter and plasterer, and he and his brothers made dance and comedy videos with a neighbour’s phone. He finished Auchi Polytechnic in 2023, the same year “Elon Musk” turned him into a household name, with remixes featuring Zlatan and Fireboy DML. The Planet Pluto EP and debut album Presido La Pluto followed, the album debuting at number one on Nigeria’s TurnTable chart, and he launched his own label, Plutomania Records, which is home to his younger brothers Zerrydl and Famous Pluto. We met Famous Pluto recently on Txmmyily’s ‘Lalakula’, so this Uzama family is serious business.

The hits kept coming. Shakespopi (2024) became his second chart-topping album, “Benin Boys” with Rema debuted at the top of the TurnTable Top 100, and “Cast” with ODUMODUBLVCK, who just linked 6uff on ‘Salt’, became a street classic. Then came “Laho” in 2025, his biggest record yet, certified four-times platinum in Nigeria, with remixes featuring Burna Boy and Puerto Rican star Rauw Alejandro. Even the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, asked him to perform it at the palace. Ghana knows him too, from his feature on King Promise’s “Continental”. After “HIM” with Gunna and the album Auracle, he returned this year with ‘Allergies’ before this surprise EP.

Why “WayWard” Matters Now

Ten months after a big, star-studded album, a lot of artists would wait for the perfect moment. Shallipopi did the opposite. He dropped a short, solo, no-features EP and dared his fans to keep up. According to figures shared with the release, he has racked up more than 440 million streams in the past year, and he has headlined London’s Electric Brixton, so this is not an artist who needs big names to sell a record. “WayWard” proves the Pluto formula still works on its own: catchy chant, strange word, confident delivery, repeat.

It also fits perfectly into the season. With December coming and party playlists being rebuilt from Lagos to Accra, three bite-sized bangers are exactly what DJs need. “UP (Transovania)” has the clearest chance to become a crowd chant, and if the video numbers are anything to go by, Transovania could soon be the most famous place nobody can locate. Pack your bags, chale. The rocket ship is leaving.
