Back in August, Mavo posted a 52-second clip on YouTube titled “Goyard (Unreleased)”, and the streets did what the streets do best: replay, repeat, and keep asking “when?” Two months later the waiting is over. On Friday, 23 October 2026, the Edo-born hitmaker officially released “Goyard”, a brand-new solo single produced by Aibrid and released through Kilogbede Records.

And the bag was not empty. On release day, “Goyard” entered Spotify’s Nigeria daily chart at No. 6. Some people buy a Goyard bag to show they have arrived; Mavo simply named a song after one and made the chart carry it for him.

Who Is Mavo?

Mavo is Oseremen Marvin Ukanigbe, born on 1 November 2003 in Ekpoma, Edo State. He spent part of his childhood in Warri before going back to Edo for boarding school, where the school music club gave him the nickname that is now on every Lagos DJ’s lips. He dropped his first track, “Ukanigbe”, on his twentieth birthday, and followed it with the Ukanigbe mixtape in December 2023 — the project that carried the slow-burning “Tumo Weto”.

Then 2025 happened. “Escaladizzy” with Wave$tar caught fire online and earned a remix with Zlatan, Shallipopi and Ayra Starr. “Shakabulizzy” followed and pulled in Davido for a remix. He linked Wizkid, DJ Maphorisa and DJ Tunez on “Money Constant”, and his CKay collaboration “Body (Danz)” gave him his first No. 1 in Nigeria. This year he has kept the tap running: “Aura Salad” with SSSoundGawd, “Big Bum Bum” with Kidd Carder, the Business mixtape in July, “Find My Babe” in September and, only last week, “Shenk Me” with DJ 808.

He has also become the feature every big name wants in the group chat. He sat beside Tiwa Savage and Wande Coal on “Energy”, crossed into Ghana with Gyakie on KJ Spio’s “Call Me”, and stood next to Olamide on Larry Gaaga’s “Come On”. Not bad for a young man who has been juggling all of this with optometry studies at university. Eye doctor by day, ear doctor by night.

Bizzylingua: Why Mavo Sounds Like Nobody Else

Part of Mavo’s magic is the language. He is known for his own slang, which he calls “Bizzylingua” — the reason titles like “Escaladizzy” and “Shakabulizzy” sound like a secret code the whole of Naija suddenly decided to learn. He describes his sound as “Burbur”, a mash of Afrobeats and rap, and he has named Wande Coal and Duncan Mighty among his influences. You can hear both: the melodic slipperiness of Black Diamond and the Port Harcourt street-soul swagger, run through a Gen-Z filter.

“Goyard” sits right inside that lane. The title is pure luxury talk — the French trunk-maker whose chevron canvas is the unofficial uniform of anybody who has “made it” — and Mavo leans into the fantasy without asking permission.

The Vibe: Black Canvas, Short Fuse

Start with the cover, because it tells you the whole story. There is no face, no photoshoot, no smoke machine — just a dark chevron monogram pattern that looks exactly like the canvas of a designer bag, with a small handwritten “Goyard” tag and Mavo’s scribbled signature tucked in the corner. It is a flex that whispers instead of shouting. If you know, you know; if you don’t know, ask your cousin in Lekki.

The record itself does not waste your data. At exactly two minutes, “Goyard” is built for the short-attention-span era: get in, deliver the hook, leave before anybody gets bored, let the replay button do overtime. With Aibrid on the beat and Leandro Higaldo handling the mix, this is a clean, polished drop that suits a late-night drive down Admiralty Way, a pre-game in Osu, or that moment you finally save enough to buy the thing you’ve been window-shopping since January. Two minutes; no wahala; run am back.

Why “Goyard” Matters Right Now

Timing is everything. Mavo turns 23 on 1 November, so “Goyard” lands as the perfect pre-birthday statement — the same artist who released his very first song on his twentieth birthday is now walking into 23 with a fresh chart entry. It also comes just a week after “Shenk Me”, which means Mavo is doing what few young stars can manage: feeding the clubs and the streaming charts at the same time without one release eating the other.

The No. 6 debut on Spotify Nigeria is the real headline. In a crowded week where Shallipopi’s WayWard and plenty of other big drops are fighting for attention, a two-minute solo song with no feature in sight went straight into the top ten. That is proof that Mavo’s name alone now moves numbers. The snippet built the hunger; the release fed it. Mavo no dey carry fake bag — this one get receipt.
