Santasi, wake up, your boy don land. Yaw Tog, the young bull who helped push Kumasi drill from bedroom phones to Stormzy’s timeline, is back with a brand-new single, “AKATAPIANO,” released on 9 October 2026. He has been telling everybody all week: “New week. New sound.” Now we know he wasn’t just talking. The title alone is enough to start an argument at the trotro station, and the song is here to settle it.

📌 Quick Facts

  • Song: AKATAPIANO
  • Artist: Yaw Tog
  • Released: 9 October 2026
  • Type: Single
  • Label: TogLife Records (distributed by ONErpm)
  • Producer: SectorMadeIt
  • Video Director: Pamir Shakir
  • Length: 2:56

From Santasi to Stormzy: Who Is Yaw Tog?

Born Thorsten Owusu Gyimah in Kumasi, Yaw Tog was discovered while still in senior high school, and “Sore” with O’Kenneth, City Boy, Reggie and Jay Bahd exploded in 2020 and became one of the anthems of the Asakaa movement. The remix pulled in Kwesi Arthur and UK heavyweight Stormzy, and just like that, a Santasi teenager was on the global drill map. Since then he has dropped the TIME project, the 12-track Young & Matured album in 2024 and Tog City in October 2025, plus a steady 2026 run of “Straight Shot Hennessy,” “I Dunno” and “2FLY.”

The Vibe: A Freestyle That Grew Legs

“AKATAPIANO” did not start life as a big plan. Back in August, Yaw Tog teased it alongside “2FLY,” and when he announced the release he admitted, “It was just a freestyle, now it’s a whole tune.” Producer SectorMadeIt built the beat, and Tog himself tags the record hip-hop and amapiano, so expect Kumasi rap swagger riding on a groove made for the dance floor. Read the title slowly and you go see the joke: the Asakaa boy is stepping onto piano territory without leaving his street accent at home. Kumasi hard man, but the waist dey move small.

The official music video, directed by Pamir Shakir, premiered on his YouTube channel on release day. It is pure night-time energy: city lights, dark shades, a checked shirt and Tog vibing like the whole street belongs to him. “Dream expensive,” he wrote while teasing it, and the visuals carry that exact attitude.

Why It Matters Now

Ghanaian drill kids grew up fast, and the ones still standing are the ones willing to switch lanes. With “AKATAPIANO,” Yaw Tog shows he is not trying to remake “Sore” forever; he is chasing a fresh sound while keeping the flow that made Kumasi proud. For weekend DJs from Adum to Osu, this is the kind of crossover that can link the rap heads and the dancers on the same floor. Whether you came for the bars or for the groove, the young bull has served both. Press repeat and argue about the title later.
