Four years. That is how long the alté church has been waiting for a new Cruel Santino album sermon. Now the bell don ring. Cruel Santino has teamed up with Ikorodu’s rage-rap wonder Zaylevelten on Big Drop, a brand-new single out 15 October 2026 on Native Sounds / Warner Records — and the title is not lying. This one lands heavy, like a Lagos landlord knocking on the first day of the month.

It is also the clearest signal yet that Santi’s third studio album, K.O.T.B – The Bomberman Chronicles, is coming in hot. Big Drop sits at track 9 of the 14-song tracklist, and the album is set for 6 November 2026. Chale, the countdown don start, and the man is dropping bombs on the way there.

⚡ The Drop in 30 Seconds

Old-school alté pioneer meets Gen Z rage architect. A video-game synth loop, syncopated drums, two rappers trading flows, a wildcard guest cutting in, and a late beat switch that turns the whole thing into a mosh pit. Two minutes and twenty seconds, no wasted bar.

The Man Who Made Alté Walk Into the Mainstream

Before the Subaru, before the “Cruel,” there was a Lagos boy named Osayaba Andrew Ize-Iyamu, born on 3 June 1992 and raised in Ikeja. He started out on SoundCloud in 2011 as a freestyle rapper called Ozzy B, became Santi in 2016 with the Suzie’s Funeral EP, and gave the underground “Gangsta Fear,” a record that travelled from Lagos bedrooms to London playlists. Then came Mandy & The Jungle in May 2019 — the album that carried alté fashion and sound from the fringes straight into the mainstream, with “Rapid Fire” alongside Shane Eagle and Amaarae as the calling card.

In 2020 a name dispute pushed him to become Cruel Santino, and in March 2022 he dropped Subaru Boys: FINAL HEAVEN through Interscope, with Skepta, Koffee, Amaarae and Gus Dapperton on board. Rolling Stone put it on its list of the 100 best albums of 2022. Oh, and he directs too — he shot GoldLink’s “U Say” video featuring Tyler, the Creator. The man basically wears five hats and none of them fall off.

Zaylevelten: Ikorodu’s Level-Ten Problem

If Santi is the alté elder, Zaylevelten is the cousin who came to the family meeting with distorted 808s and refused to sit down. Born Chisom Lucky Okoro in 2002 and raised in Ikorodu, he raps as Zaylevelten and produces as Tenski — yes, the same Tenski whose “Tenski, save me” tag turned into a Gen Z meme. His 2025 tape then 1t g0t crazy was the breakout, the B4SAVEME EP followed in July 2026, and he has picked up co-signs from Davido, Zlatan and Odumodublvck along the way.

He told Dazed his music is “the border where hip hop and core Nigerian music meet,” and his October calendar proves he is not resting at that border: Big Drop arrives right after features on Txmmyily’s “Lalakula” and Kashcoming’s “CTRL.” Small boy, big diary.

What the Beat Is Doing

The NATIVE calls Big Drop “a gritty three-way affair,” built on a catchy synth loop that sounds plucked out of a video game, with syncopated drums from Santi’s longtime Monster Boys collaborator Genio Bambino and Odunsi The Engine. Santi and Zaylevelten swap smooth, assured flows, while OctobersRich — whom Santi announced as the song’s “guest star” — cuts in at intervals with a heavily inflected, stream-of-consciousness delivery. Then a late beat switch arrives and the whole room loses its manners. If you play this one in a trotro, the mate go collect fare with headbang.

Santi also tested the record live first: he previewed it at a listening party in New York before release, and the crowd reaction did the marketing for him.

The Cover: A Whole Cathedral of Wahala

The single art is pure Santi world-building. An illustrated gothic cathedral in cold blues, knights in armour crowding a grand staircase, hooded figures floating with open books, a dragon-like beast perched at the top, gowned women and mermaid-like figures lining the hall, and a caped figure with a sword standing at the centre of it all. No logo, no title, no explanation. Na fantasy novel cover, and you are expected to read the album to understand the plot.

Why It Matters Now

October 2026 is full of Afrobeats love songs and Detty December warm-ups, and that is fine. But Big Drop is a reminder that Nigeria’s alternative lane is still producing its own weather. Santi started this new era in August with the International Collector / Oz. two-pack and its self-directed visuals; Big Drop is the first proper explosion. Pairing with Zaylevelten is also a smart bridge — the man who made alté cool in 2019 passing the aux cord to the kid whose rage-rap fusion is shaping what the next generation is moshing to. From Accra’s skate kids to Lagos’ mosh pits, everybody who wears black on a hot afternoon now has a new anthem.

Big drop? Big drop. Now we wait for the bomb itself on 6 November.
