Some names never leave Ghanaian music. Jennifer Lomotey, Emmanuella, Cinderella — and, of course, Jane. If you were anywhere near a lorry station, a wedding canopy or a Sunday afternoon radio show at the turn of the millennium, you know which Jane we are talking about. She has been waiting patiently in the classics cupboard for more than two decades. This week, Mr All 4 Real opened the door.

On Friday, 23 October 2026, highlife great Ofori Amponsah released “Jane (Remix)” featuring Kurl Songx — the MTN Hitmaker champion who gave us “Jennifer Lomotey”. Yes, the man who sang about Jennifer is now helping to bring Jane back. Somebody please check on the love life of these two gentlemen.

⚡ “Jane (Remix)” in 30 Seconds

“Jane (Remix)” is a brand-new reworking of Ofori Amponsah’s classic “Jane”, the love song from the Wo Ho Kyere era he recorded alongside the late Daddy Lumba. Who Is Ofori Amponsah?

For a whole generation, Ofori Amponsah is not just a singer — he is a soundtrack. The man fans call Mr All 4 Real came up under the wing of Daddy Lumba, and when he stepped out on his own he delivered a run of love songs that Ghana still sings word for word: “Otoolege”, “Emmanuella”, “Puduo”, “Broken Heart”, and the Kofi Nti collaborations “Rakia” and “Odo Nwom”. Later came “Alewa” with Sarkodie, then “Sardine” and “Cinderella”, and a link-up with Killbeatz and King Promise on “Odo Nti”. If highlife had a hall of fame for romantic confessions, Ofori would have his own wing — with a fountain.

The last few years have shown a legend who refuses to sit in the archive. In 2025 he joined Ko-Jo Cue and AratheJay on “Tontonte” — the same Ko-Jo Cue now gliding through Joywxrld’s ‘Saara’. In January he dropped “Room 666!” with She and AratheJay, whose fresh single ‘Wings’ is flying right now. Then came “Isabella” in May, and in July he pulled Stonebwoy and KiDi into ‘Odo Nwom (Remix)’. Clearly, the remix season at 4 Reez Westside is not finished. Jane has simply joined the queue.

Meet Kurl Songx: From Adabraka to Hitmaker

Kurl Songx is Kelvin Agyekum, an Adabraka boy with Kwahu roots who started singing in his church choir, finished as first runner-up on Vodafone Icons in 2013 and then won MTN Hitmaker Season 5 in 2016. Before the big break, he was a classroom teacher in Accra — chalk dust on his shirt, melodies in his head. He signed to Kaywa’s Highly Spiritual Music and announced himself with “Jennifer Lomotey” featuring Sarkodie, then followed with “Feeling” alongside the late Ebony Reigns, “Whistle” and “Trumpet”.

Here is the sweet part. Ask Kurl Songx who inspired him, and the names that keep coming up include Kojo Antwi and Daddy Lumba. So this is not a random feature booked by a label calendar. It is a student who grew up on the Lumba school of songwriting, now standing next to one of its most famous graduates, singing a song that came out of that very classroom. Hand him the chalk; he has earned the lesson.

The Vibe: Old Love Letter, New Envelope

Remaking a classic is a dangerous job in Ghana. Touch the wrong thing and the uncles in the comment section will arrest you before the first chorus ends. JaySynths and Tyler Spry seem to understand the assignment: keep the highlife heartbeat — the guitar sweetness and the mid-tempo sway that made the original a wedding favourite — and wrap it in a cleaner, modern Afro-pop finish that sits comfortably beside today’s playlists.

Vocally, it is a proper two-generation conversation. Ofori brings the seasoned, unhurried tone of a man who has sung about love for decades and still means every word. Kurl Songx brings the smooth, airy lines that made “Jennifer Lomotey” a hit, and his voice slides in without trying to outshout the master. The cover tells the same story in one image: Ofori in a sharp navy pinstripe suit and dark glasses, Kurl Songx in a cream doodle-print jacket — the senior prefect and the new captain, same school, different uniforms. Play it on a Friday evening drive from Kaneshie to Lapaz and watch your passengers start harmonising without being asked.

Why “Jane (Remix)” Matters Right Now

Highlife is having a serious 2026. From Akwaboah and Kwesi Arthur’s ‘Odo Ankasa’ to Flowking Stone’s Kumasi love letter ‘Angelina’, the genre is reaching younger listeners again — and the smartest move a legend can make is to meet them halfway. A remix with a younger voice does exactly that: the parents get their Jane back, and the children discover where the sound they love actually came from.

There is also an emotional weight that nobody can ignore. Daddy Lumba passed away in July 2025, and every song from that golden partnership now carries extra meaning. Revisiting “Jane” with a singer who openly looks up to Lumba feels less like a cash-in and more like keeping a family recipe alive. Ghana rarely does tributes with speeches; we do them with songs. This one sounds like the right kind of remembrance — warm, danceable and full of love.
